State tax filing
"Businesses or individuals who contribute to approved Community Investment Programs may be eligible for a credit against the Maryland State income tax. Contributions must be made to a nonprofit organization approved by the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). The taxpayer must apply to and receive approval by the DHCD for each contribution for which a credit is claimed. " (from TurboTax Learn More screen)
Is this the state tax credit you are referring to (there are several different ones)? (see http://dhcd.maryland.gov/Communities/Pages/programs/CITC.aspx)
In the Maryland state interview, you will come to a screen entitled "Take a look at Maryland credits". Look under the subheading "Personal, home and family credits" for "Community Investment Income Tax Credit". Click on Start and enter the amount.
If, however, you are referring to Endow Maryland Tax Credit (http://taxes.marylandtaxes.gov/Resource_Library/Tax_Publications/Business_Tax_Credits/Endow_Maryland...), then go to the same screen and subheading, and enter "Endow Maryland Income Tax Credit".
