State tax filing
Try the steps in this help article:
You may receive a message like:
ZIP code is invalid for Electronic Filing. You must enter a valid ZIP code for your state. Enter a correct ZIP code in this format 'nnnnn' or 'nnnnn-nnnn'
TurboTax follows the IRS guidelines for acceptable ZIP codes. If the two-letter state abbreviation doesn't match the ZIP code, you'll receive this error when attempting to e-file.
Solution
If you receive this error:
- Double-check you entered the correct two-letter state code
- Make sure you've entered the ZIP code in either 5-digit or 9-digit format (for example 12345 or 12345-6789)
- Look up the correct ZIP code for the street address in question
If this doesn't work, try some troubleshooting steps:
Check your Internet connection. Hardwired connections work best.
Try logging out of TurboTax, restarting your device, and then logging back in; try clearing your cache and cookies. If after trying all of the options mentioned you still have the same problem:
