It's possible that instead of choosing that you wanted to mail your return, you chose to have your refund mailed to you instead. The checkbox on the PA-8453 means that you would not be receiving your refund by direct deposit. Instead, your refund would come to you as a paper check.

To verify this, look at page 2 of your PA-40. Line 30 indicates your refund, which can be sent to you as direct deposit or as a paper check. Line 31 indicates that you don't want your refund and you'd rather have your overpayment credited to next year.

If you see an amount on line 30, you should get that amount as a check since your PA-8453 indicates no direct deposit. If you see an amount on line 31, you won't get a refund and your overpayment will be applied to your 2025 return.
