State tax filing
Q. My income for the year is $7843 and they have withheld local income tax of $196.0 in Cleveland. Can we get back this amount?
A. No. There is no exemption of city income tax for students, in Ohio (unless you are under 18). $196 is the correct amount of withholding on $7843 (2.5%).
If you are Cleveland resident, you must file a Cleveland city return, even though you the right amount withheld. Cleveland is a member of CCA. TurboTax can do CCA returns. Non residents do not have to file.
