I'm filing my 2024 tax return, prompted to input "last year's" AGI and "refund or tax due" info for MI-8453, but does that mean for 2023 or 2024?
I'm just about wrapped up with filing my state tax return, but ran into an issue trying to sign my state return electronically.
It is saying that it is required to submit a MI-8453, and is asking for two things so I can file electronically:
- Enter last year's Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) or household income
- Enter the amount of your Michigan refund or tax due last year
That's all fine and good, but do they mean the year of 2023 or 2024?
I can find my 1040 document for 2023 no problem, but if it is asking for that info for 2024, then I get confused. I technically have a 1040 for 2024, so I have an AGI number to work with there, but is that what I need? Additionally, I'm a bit confused by the second question and where I'm supposed to find that. Is that the return amount the state would be sending me for my refund? I know for a fact what that was for 2023, but is the amount listed from TurboTax the right amount to be listed?
Appreciate any help in identifying the specifics here because TurboTax is not explaining things well. I'm using TurboTax "premium" online at the moment.
