State tax filing
If you worked in Virginia:
As a nonresident and income earned in Virginia is taxable to Virginia, so you may not get a full refund of the tax you paid to Virginia. You would be due a refund if you paid in more tax than is owed on your Virginia income. You would file a nonresident return and enter the amount of your total income that was earned within Virginia.
If you did not work in Virginia:
None of your income is taxable to Virginia, so you would be eligible to get a refund of any taxes paid to the state. You'd need to be sure to indicate that none of your income was earned in Virginia within TurboTax.
