I’m extremely confused on how to file taxes now since I’m in a registered domestic partnership. We both need to file single federal returns. Then create a whole new turbo tax account where you wouldn’t file the federal but just file the state as married but filing separately? And then because you’re not e-filing both at the same time, you then have to mail in the state return? The state part I’m confused on because we both just want to file separately not joint. Can someone break down the steps on what to do exactly?
