State tax filing

Most health insurance premiums are deductible for filers of Michigan State income tax returns,. Examples would include premiums for medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance and prescriptions.

Insurance premiums not deductible would include premiums for long-term care, disability, loss of life and limb, and premiums paid by an employer with pre-tax contributions. If your premiums do not fall in any of those categories, they are likely deductible. You can learn more from the Michigan Department of Revenue.
