It seems like TurboTax might be prompting you to file a Washington state return due to the Washington Working Families Tax Credit. This credit is new and allows eligible taxpayers to claim it while completing their federal tax return in TurboTax.
You can file directly through the state of Washington here to see if you qualify for the credit. Meanwhile, you can delete the state return by going to the state taxes tab in your program and then use the trash can icon to remove the state return. Also you can go to;
- Tax tools
- Tools
- Delete a form
- Delete all Washington State Forms
If in Turbo Tax Desktop, you can remove the state return either by:
- selecting file and then remove state return.
- Washington will appear here. Highlight it and remove it.
- You may also go to the forms mode and remove all state forms.
