State tax filing

VA and MD have a reciprocal agreement where they don't tax each others' residents on wage income. So, VA cannot tax your wages earned there if you live in MD (and vice versa). If you had VA tax withheld then you need to file a nonresident VA return claiming 0 income earned there to get all of the withholding back.

See this about reciprocal states, and if you still work in VA then be sure to submit Form VA-4 linked there to your VA employer so they will withhold MD taxes instead.
