State tax filing
Thanks for the fast, friendly, but wrong answer. No I'm not going to send you all a copy of my return so you can dink around with the numbers before actually reading what I wrote and THINKING ABOUT the core question -- which is about revised Kansas tax law -- which I'm trusting you to get right on my behalf.
You don't need to see my return to just follow what I'm telling you: A9 appropriately shows federal taxable SS benefits that are carried through down to a large negative number in B20, which wipes out the smaller KS source income in B19, resulting in no tax due. The key words are as stated above about how B20 is supposed to work.
Please have an Intuit tax expert check whether KS law now allows non-KS (SS or other) adjustments to wipe out KS source income completely, or if your program is behaving wrongly and misinterpreting how B20 is supposed to work. I'd either like it fixed if broken, or else confirmation it's working correctly ACCORDING TO KS LAW and we won't be audited or fined due to trusting TT. Thanks.
PS: The new requirement to not only log in to post here, that's OK, but having to receive and copy a verification code out of email first, is very annoying and in the long run will cause me and other people to give up on using this service.
