State tax filing
Yes, if you have state tax withheld, it should be recorded in Box 17 of the W2. Here you have two options.
- Ask your employer to issue a corrected W2 to report this.
- If they refuse, enter the amount of state taxes that were withheld from your check
As a far as the renter's credit, this is reported on a state return. I can't comment on this because I do not know what state you live in. Also I am not sure what you are asking.
