Cannot e-file due to problem with Georgia Qualified Education Donation on Georgia Credits Worksheet. Entered dollar amount is not accepted (endless loop). How do I fix?
TurboTax's state review flags the following on my Georgia tax return and says I can only file by mail unless I fix (but Georgia requires e-file for those claiming a Qualified Education Donation Credit):
Check This Entry
Donation Credit Amount ____
"Qualified Education Expense Credit Smart Worksheet In claiming a tax credit on your Georgia tax return for Qualified Education Expense credit, you are required to reduce/remove any charitable contribution amounts claimed on your Federal tax return to the extent the amount was allowed as a credit against your Georgia tax. You may instead apply some/all of the Georgia allowed credit amount as "state/local income tax payment" on your Federal Schedule A, up to the maximum allowed limit on your Federal return. To indicate this donation as "state/local income tax payment", go back to your Federal return and enter this amount as "estimate tax" paid, enter same amount below to reconcile your Georgia tax return. See Help.
Amount of charitable donation reported on Federal return as "state/local income tax _____"
I already entered the donation amount as state/local estimated taxes paid on my Federal form, but it's not accepting that amount (or any amount, I even tried zero) on this screen and the review fails (endless loop to fix the same problem, preventing e-file and only allowing File By Mail). How do I fix this so I can pass the SmartCheck review and e-file my return?
