State tax filing
No, it doesn't change what MarilynG1 described. Here are the detailed steps in TurboTax Desktop:
- Open you return in TurboTax
- Click on "Search" on the right top and type “1099-R” in the box
- Click on “Jump to 1099-R”
- Continue until "About this Retirement Account. / Was this withdrawal an RMD for 2023?" and select "Yes, some or all of this was RMD"
- Select “Part of this distribution was an RMD”, enter the amount, and click “continue”
- On the “Transfer to Charity” screen select “I had part of this distribution transferred to charity” and click “continue”
- Enter the amount transferred to charity ($4,000)
- Continue "What did you do with this money from this payer?" and select "I moved the money to another retirement account (or returned it to the same account)"
- Then select “I did a combination of rolling over, converting, or cashing out money.” and enter the amount rolled over next to "Amount rolled over to another (or back to the same) retirement account”
- Continue answering the questions.
