While you are in the State Taxes tab, this is where you select your residency status. Please check to see if you selected your residency status in the Virginia portion of your return. The address in the personal information may have automatically selected nonresidency status on the Virginia return, and you can change it.
- Select the State tab (on the left for online or at the top for desktop)
- Answer the questions about your residency
- Answer "No" to the question "Did you make money in Virginia in 2017, but never live there?"
- Select "just Virginia" to the question "What was your state of residence in 2017?"
