Filing IL State taxes for my deceased mother.
The tax.illinois.gov website says:
When you are filing a return on behalf of a single deceased taxpayer,
- print the name of the taxpayer on the appropriate line.
- write “deceased” and the date of death above the decedent’s name.
- write “in care of,” and the representative’s name and address.
A personal representative, such as an executor or administrator must sign and date the return.
My questions are:
Where is the "appropriate line" (bullet 1)
Where do I write "in care of" and my address (bullet 3)
Turbotax added "Deceased and the date" on page 1 of my 1040 return. Is that what is being referred to for bullet 1? What about bullet 3? Turbotax didn't do anything with that.
