Moved to NYC
Hey, I worked in NYC but lived in NJ and NYC so my box 1 is showing 113622.49 but my box 16 is showing NJ: 22679.86 and NY: 113622.49
NJ+NY total amount > 113622.49
What to do in this case and how to fill my taxes?
I am on a visa and lived in New Jersey with a lease under my name. Last year, I got a job in NYC and started renting a place there too, also under my name. I split my time between NYC and NJ, staying a few days in each after my lease in New Jersey ended in May, I started living solely in NYC.. My W2 box 16 shows income for both NJ and NY. Do I need to file taxes for just NY, or do I need to file for both NY and NJ?
