problem with sched D on California part year resident
For the federal uploaded the 1099-B from Morgan Stanley into Turbotax. We had a financial advisor handle our investments and there are lots of transactions.
For california, I got Morgan Stanley to send me a 1099 B like statement of January to July which is my california residency. In Turbotax I chose "allocate by total amount if you already know the allocated amounts". I entered the net of capital loss+gain from the MS statement. When I look at the PDF, I see a CA 540 D (with an additional sheet) with a whole long list of stocks with no dates but sales price, cost, loss, gain for each. Those $ numbers bear no relationship to my MS statement, there are also lines missing. I just want to give turbotax the total amount which it appears I should be able to do. If they ask for documentation I can show them where I got it.
There appears to be no way to edit the information that appears on the 540 (D).
I am about to go through the data entered on the federal to make sure it is not an issue with the upload but those numbers appear to be correct.
How do I handle this?
