State tax filing
There are several reasons you may not get a tax refund, or your tax refund is lower than last year. You get a refund if you overpaid your taxes in the previous year (through your employee withholding or quarterly tax payments). You can also get a refund if you qualify for refundable credits like the Earned Income Credit or Child Tax Credit. Other reasons include:
- Fewer deductions
- Fewer Credits
- Change in your filing status
- Change in your income
Review the TurboTax Help article: Why did my refund go down compared to last year's? and Why is my refund lower than last year? for more information.
