State tax filing

This is a little complicated. There is a California Capital Loss Carryover Worksheet which you may or may not have in your 2017 return. If you do not have it, you can easily complete it if you have your California Schedule D and your California 540. Line 8 is what you are seeking.

  1. Loss from Schedule D (540), line 11, stated as a

  2. Amount from Form 540, line 17 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2 _________

  3. Amount from Form 540, line 18 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3 _________

  4. Subtract line 3 from line 2. If less than zero, enter

    as a negative amount. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4 _________

  5. Combine line 1 and line 4. If less than zero,
    enter -0-. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5 _________

  6. Loss from Schedule D (540), line 8. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 6 _________
