State tax filing
In the Personal Info section of TT, enter GA as your State of Residence. Answer No to the question about living in another state. Enter the income you earned in NY as "Other State Income." Then, when you prepare your state returns, be sure to complete the non-resident NY state return first, before you do your home state GA return. That way you'll receive a credit on your GA return for the taxes paid to NY.
GA can tax ALL your income, including what you earned in NY. NY can tax only the income you earned from working in NY.
**Answers are correct to the best of my ability but do not constitute tax or legal advice.
