LINE 37 CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WEST VIRGINIA PREPAID TUITION TRUST/ WEST VIRGINIA SAVINGS PLAN TRUST. Enter any payments paid to the prepaid tuition trust fund/savings plan trust. Annual statement must be submitted to support this deduction. If the annual statement is not submitted the credit will be denied.
This gives me a couple of thoughts.
- The simplest would be to e-file the return and mail the WV Form 8453 with a copy of the pdf statement as an attachment. If you are using the desktop version, you may can select the WV 8453 to print. This is a common method for sending requested items but WV does not show a list of applicable items on the WV 8453.
- Otherwise, print and mail the return with the attachment required.
Either way:
Do not send the original copy under any circumstances.
Don't be surprised by a letter from the state either denying the credit or asking for the statement again. New changes means new issues. As long as you qualify, you will eventually get the credit.
