I have a W2 issued from a PEO. I changed employers in 2022 but they both used the same PEO and the PEO's backend systems generated a single W2 for the 2022 tax year.
This means that the values for all of the federal boxes are "consolidated" and I don't have a W2 for each employer in 2022.
Since both my employers for 2022 were in the same state, the W2 has TWO rows in it for boxes 15-20. The state code is the same for both rows but the state level EIN and the financial numbers are different.
TT22 does not like this and keeps flagging this as a mistake / insisting that I have duplicate data. The only thing that both rows for box 15-20 have in common is the state code. The EIN and all financials are different.
Assuming that the w2 I have is valid, how do i
1. report this as a bug to TT. Whatever logic they're using to detect duplicate data should be expanded to consider more than the state code!
2. get around it so I can continue to finish/file my taxes
