State tax filing
New York state will tax all of your income in and out of state. Then, they will apportion the tax rate based on the income you earned out of state versus in state. So, when you look at the New York tax summary, it looks like you are being taxed on all of your income, but because the tax rate is reduced by the percentage of income earned out of state, you are really not.
