State tax filing
No, the 2022 GA senior standard deduction is not $1,750, it's an additional $1,300 if you or your spouse turns 65 before the close of the tax year or if your or your spouse is blind at the close of the year.
- The $1,750 is on your federal return, if you qualify.
- TurboTax will automatically calculate your standard deduction and enter it unless your itemized deductions are greater, on your federal and/or state return.
On the federal return, if you're 65 years of age or legally blind, the standard deduction was increased in 2022 to $1,750 for Single filers or Head of Household, and $1,400 (per person) for married filing jointly, married filing separately, and Surviving Spouses.
