You will see a question in TurboTax after you enter your W-2 information regarding being a public safety officer. When you amend your return, you go back to the original W-2 entry and answer the question properly and the difference in your tax will be calculated by the program. You will be instructed to enter an explanation as to why you are amending your return. You will see an option to amend your return on your home page in TurboTax once that option is available this year. There is no charge to amend your return for the federal or California returns.
