State tax filing

Every state has to get their money in some way.  I moved from New York to Virginia recently.  Yes, the car tax was a shock, but my real estate taxes in VA are half what I was paying in NY even though my house is worth more.   The states you mention may have higher or lower property taxes, sales tax, or business taxes and fees (that are ultimately passed on to the consumer one way or the other.)  They may also have lower government services.  (I was also disappointed at the poor selection at my local county library compared to NY, the librarian reminded me about the differences in property taxes.)

You've also named two very Democratic and two very Republican areas.  That may or may not affect your quality of life.

At least 3 of the 4 places you named have extremes of weather (heat, humidity, rain, clouds, etc.).  How about utility costs?

The volunteers on this board aren't equipped to tell you where to live.
