You are not making a clear distinction between federal and New Jersey taxes. Did you owe New Jersey tax and pay it by the due date? If you paid New Jersey tax in April, how did you pay it without filing a New Jersey extension?
If you did file a New Jersey extension, then the instructions under "If You Are Filing a Federal Extension" do not apply to you. The New Jersey web page does not make that clear.
