State tax filing
Try this procedure.
First, enter your California tax from Form 592-B or 593 in the federal return area:
- Select Federal in the left pane
- Select Deductions & Credits in the banner
- Scroll down and select the Show more dropdown to the right of Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
- Select Start or Revisit to the right of Income Taxes Paid
- Under Other Income Taxes Paid in 2021, select Start or Revisit to the right of Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or 1099
- Enter your amount in the state box, and select California from the dropdown
Then:
- Select the State tab in the left pane, and go to your California return.
- Click through until you get to the Take a look at California credits and taxes screen
- Scroll down to Payments and withholding, and select Start to the right of Real Estate and Other Withholding
- Answer Yes on the Any Real Estate or Other Withholding Forms? screen, which refers to Forms 592-B and 593.
- Enter the rest of your information as requested on the following screens.
