State tax filing
@indigojeffreyjIf it's helpful, I'm filing as a non-resident (IT-203) and for IT-203-F I have an empty Schedule A and multiple Schedule Bs. In the NY "Alloc Wks" form, "Capital Gain or Loss Allocation Smart Worksheet" has a checkbox (which I have checked) to allocate using form IT-203-F. All Schedule B Line 20 values are totaled together and entered in Line A, which results in an allocation on Line 7 (capital gain or loss). I then offset the amount in Line B (Line A * -1) to zero out line 7, and place the amount of Line A into Line 1 (wages, salaries, tips, etc.) column D. At least for my tax situation, my understanding is that this is the correct method to generate an accurate tax return that can be efiled. The 2021 TurboTax PDF output is also the same as non-resident returns that I have efiled in prior years where IT-203-F was an attached PDF.
