New problem filing 2021 Virginia Business 502 for Pass Thru Entities
Last year while completing 2020 Virginia business taxes we encountered the problem with TurboTax forcing you to complete Form 502A in order to specify your Virginia income percentage. We didn't fit any of the specified options so we followed the discussion recommendations to switch to form mode and delete Form 502A which left the Virgina percentage as 100%.
This same problem exists in 2021 version of the software but has an addition quirk. When completing the Virginia Pass-Through Entity worksheet we were unable to click the box to Use direct debit to pay for any state tax payments and were not able to complete the amount due with the state form. Basically the software was forcing us to file via paper which is not allowed in Virginia.
After trying a number of different things we finally called the support line who recommended that we continue through to the File part of the processing which allowed us to specify E-file. Once we did this we were able to return to the file by form view and were able to specify Use direct debit to pay for any state tax payments and the amount due with the state form was filled in by Turbotax.
