State tax filing
Thank you everyone for responding. I'll provide an update as to what I did to work around this issue. Basically, googling everything, I found that NYS did not include Turbo Tax in its list of identified vendors providing e-filing services, which told me there was not going to be a NYS "update" found on Turbo Tax. I decided to create my tax forms again and submit with [Another Major Tax Preparer] software provider that was endorsed on NYS website. I did this and submitted my forms through the second provider. However, there is a very key element to this strategy, which if not followed, will not work. IF you e-filed your Federal form on Turbo Tax, you will not be able to submit a second Federal form (unless it's an amended form, which is another process). A second submission will be rejected by the IRS, and if your federal form is NOT accepted, your state form will not be accepted. Additionally, you are unable to submit a [NYS] state form unless you submit a Federal form. The federal and state forms go hand in hand. I submitted my Federal form through Turbo but held back on my NYS form. Doing so created the situation where I could no longer e-File my NYS form. I ended up mailing it. A lesson learned for future filings.
