State tax filing

Form N-11 is the main resident tax return form for Hawaii. Form N-11 IS your state tax return. If you mailed your state tax return, Form N-11 is what you mailed.

So why do you think you need Form N-11 now? Did you get a notice from the Department of Taxation telling you to send Form N-11? If so, what they might be telling you is that they did not get your tax return, and they are telling you to file it.

Are you talking about your 2020 tax return or an earlier year? Did you mail your tax return to the state? When did you mail it? What address did you mail it to? Did you mail it with tracking or a return receipt (as you were advised to do back in January)? Do you have confirmation that it was delivered? Do you have a copy of the state tax return that you mailed? The first page should say "Form N-11" in the top left corner.

If you never actually filed your tax return, you have to file it now. If you mailed it to the wrong address, in most cases that's the same as not filing it. Whoever you mistakenly mailed it to might have just thrown it out.

If you purchased Audit Defense for the year in question, call TaxAudit at 877-829-9695, or report your Department of Taxation notice on the TaxAudit.com web site. If you did not purchase Audit Defense, you can get help with your state tax notice from TurboTax at the following link.
