Catch 22 for NJ Filing of C-Corp - E-filing not possible withouth Federal!
I just spent more than 2 days trying to figure out an issue and found no help, so I am at a loss how to solve the following:
I need to file a simple Form 1120 for Federal and a NJ CBT 100. NJ has a mandatory requirement to file electronically, which I was able to do in the past with TurboTax, but not this year. The reason is, my F1120 has an F5472 attached and therefore I MUST file by mail. TurboTax would not even allow to file the Federal Return electronically, which would result in a $25,000 fine if the form 5472 is missing. But if the Federal Return is not submitted electronically, then the NJ State return CAN NOT be filed at all via TurboTax. The error is cryptic and says: "NJ return must be linked to the Federal return or a copy must be attached as a PDF for electronic filing". However, there is no way to attach a PDF and still e-file. I tried everything. So I am at a loss. I checked NJ State website and they suggest to use TurboTax and will not accept mailed returns, but Intuit seems to be unable to solve this and have NJ returns efiled with Federal returns submitted by mail. It is not at all clear to me why TurboTax can not simply file the NJ CBT100 electronically and attach a PDF. Any help is appreciated.
