I have a variation on this question. I've entered all of my deductions and the federal standard deduction is best for me, but the NYS itemized deduction is much better than the NYS standard deduction. (NYS allows the taxpayer to take the itemized state deductions even when taking the federal standard deduction.) However, the program has defaulted to the NYS standard deduction and I can't seem to change it. Can you please advise? Thank you.
