State tax filing

"There is no way something should be in Box 14 because I am an adjunct and adjuncts are not eligible for institutional retirement contributions" But you did make a contribution to the school's 403(b), right?

Are you saying that you have cleared box 14 of all entries, that is for each of the three boxes where the word "Other" originally appeared?

The NY explanation for reject code R0103 is "Public employee 414(h) retirement contribution not equal to amount on W-2". In other words, NY State rejected your return because what was on the W-2 in the TurboTax XML return that was e-filed didn't match what was in the NY database, which should have come from the copy of your W-2 that the school already sent to NYS.

Our problem is that we don't know what is in the NYS database. In fact, if you did not make any 414(h) contributions, then NYS shouldn't have anything about any 414(h) contributions in its database, yet it does. And if you tried to e-file with no 414(h) contributions, then there is no way this reject should have happened - unless NYS had gibberish in its database.

I understand your frustration, but there are two parties here: TurboTax which assembles the e-file packet in XML format, and New York State which receives the XML packet. The error could lie in either place, and unless we could talk to NYS, there is no way to know.
