State tax filing

If you did not physically work in either Indiana or New Jersey, but were only working remotely, neither state taxes you.  (New Jersey used to, and Indiana never has taxed a telecommuter).  So you really need to file both returns with 0 incomes, getting back all taxes being paid in.  However, as a West Virginia resident, all of your income is taxed there.  Your situation is similar to if you were working in one of West Virginia's neighbor states with whom they have reciprocity.  If you work in one of these states, and taxes are withheld to that reciprocal state, you must file a tax return to get a refund of those taxes, but you will pay the full tax to West Virginia.  Same thing here.  There will be no credit for taxes paid to other states.
