WA Employer worked in CA during Covid

Hi Everyone,

 

I started a job in Feb 2020 in WA and moved to the state then. In Mar 2020 because of Covid my employer allowed us to work from home. I stayed in WA till mid June and then went to stay in CA for the rest of the year. Some time later in the year, I updated my home address to start holding CA taxes, but work location remained in WA. I intend to return to WA once offices open back up. My question is do I need to calculate my income from mid June to end of the year and file a California return? Would this be a part year or non resident return? Am I on the hook for any employer tax obligations during this time?
