State tax filing
Q. Do i need to file taxes in NJ also?
A. No. NJ & PA are reciprocal states. You would only file an NJ return if NJ tax was mistakenly withheld. The fact that you reside in NJ, for school, does not change the reciprocity rule. You are still considered a full year PA resident.
PA has a flat rate for income tax (3.07%). A $500 tax bill would mean you had over $16,300 of income
