It’s an actual audit. I keep track of my refund status on the IRS website and there’s a message saying I am being audited and a letter was sent to me Via mail which I am currently waiting for and once I receive it I am supposed to review it and send in some documents they are asking me for. It’s for my NY State refund for the year 2018. The message doesn’t say anything about me needing to verify my identity, it just says a letter was sent to my home for me to review their reason why I was audited. But my question is, I paid for audit protection this year through turbo tax, shouldn’t a turbo tax representative be representing me or helping me ?
