Yes, for the state tax payments because state income taxes paid during the year, are a deduction for the itemized deductions. However, no, for the federal tax payment because these amounts are not a deduction for federal taxes (you're simply paying your tax for 2015 and it doesn't affect this year's return).

To enter your state income tax payments made in 2016, follow the steps below:

  1. Login and click Take me to my return
  2. Next, select the Federal Taxes tab and then click the Deductions & Credits tab below it  (If you have the blue button Check for more tax breaks click it, and then click Skip to see all tax breaks)
  3. Scroll down to the Estimates and Other Taxes Paid section and click the blue hyperlink Show more
  4. Click Start/Revisit next to Other Income Taxes and answer Yes to the first question.
  5. Click Start next to the Balance due on your 2015 state taxes paid in 2016. You'll be able to enter your state tax payment.
