After you file
It depends. For fiduciary returns (Form 770), refundable credits like the PTET often need to be recorded on a worksheet before they appear on the main form.
- Switch to Forms Mode (click the Forms icon in the top right).
- In the list of Virginia forms on the left, look for the Tax Payments Worksheet.
- Look for a line labeled "Other state tax withholding" or "Refundable Credits." * If you find a line for PTET specifically, enter it there. If not, entering it as "Other State Withholding" usually forces the amount to flow to Form 770, Line 19.
Alternately, you can manually create Schedule CR.
- In Forms Mode, click Open Form at the top of the forms list.
- Search for "Schedule CR".
- Select it and click Open.
- Once open, scroll to Section 3 (Refundable Credits).
- Look for Part 6, Line 6a: Pass-Through Entity Elective Tax Payment Credit.
- Manually enter the amount from your VK-1, Part III, Line 10 here.
Verify the Flow to Form 770
- After entering the credit in Schedule CR:
- Open Form 770 (Virginia Fiduciary Income Tax Return).
- Check Line 19 (Total payments and credits). The amount from Schedule CR should now be included in this total.
