After you file
The IRS has its own postal zip code (actually bunch of them). When the mail gets there, there is so much that it goes into a big hopper. If you think the mail person delivering all that stuff each day sorts out ever letter that needs to be signed, keep dreaming. Pay for a mailing receipt but certified mail to the IRS address is worthless. You will know they got your return when your check gets cashed or you get your refund. The tracking will show the last real post office right before it goes to the IRS zipcode. Then it just disappears into the ether. The best part is they get so backed up that the time between when they cash your check and actually enter the return into the system can be over a month. Just wait and pray.
