After you file
No one but the IRS can know anything specific about your return. The IRS is currently processing paper returns filed in May 2025, according to their processing status page:

Does yours show up in the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool? Is there any message there?
To phone the IRS, if you get a voice robot that wants you to voice your issue, try just saying "speak to representative about my account". You may have to say it more than once regardless of what it asks. IMO, it's easier to reach someone early AM soon after they open.
IRS: 800-829-1040 (7AM-7 PM local time) Monday-Friday
Try the IRS first, but if you are having an economic hardship and can't get good info from the IRS, you can phone the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service to see if they will help you. The second FAQ below shows the phone numbers for the IRS Taxpayer Advocate offices in your state.
