After you file

@mckiverm wrote: What is going on with my taxes. I filed my taxes late. It was after the due date, since I was on a deployment. My taxes got approved on 2 May. I have not recieved, yet.
Please let me know if this is a common practice. Not filing ontime, causes a delay in receiving my funds..?

No one but the IRS can know anything specific about your return/refund, but we can tell you some things to investigate before you phone the IRS.

"...not filing on time causes a delay in receiving my funds?"

No, that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with it.

"My taxes got approved on May 2."

Are you sure you mean "approved", or do you mean your efile was "accepted" for processing?   Those are 2 different things.

Where are you seeing that date and the exact word "approved"?   What is currently shown at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool?

https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund

Does it say "refund approved" or "refund sent" or something else?  Or does it say it's still being processed?

Did you choose to get your refund by direct deposit to your bank account (or card), or did you choose a paper check in the mail?

Did you have any TurboTax fees that you chose to pay out of the Federal refund?

Here are some tips when using that IRS tool:

  • Be sure you enter the correct tax year, SSN, and filing status.
  • Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount.   Do not include any state refund or any total refund or net refund (Fed and State) that TurboTax may have provided on a summary screen.
  • Look at your actual Federal return to get the Federal refund amount to use in the tool, i.e., your Form 1040, Line 35a.
