After you file
If you are getting a refund of all federal and state tax withheld, this means that you have no taxable income after deductions and exemptions.
In this case, claiming the student loan interest deduction would not change anything as the deduction cannot reduce your taxable income to below 0. There is no need to amend your tax return.
