After you file
State and local tax withholding would be entered when you input your W-2 or other income form (such as a 1099-R) in which you had state or local taxes withheld. You do not enter this a second time.
If you made estimated tax payments in 2024, then those must be entered as well. Please follow the instructions below to enter them:
- Open or continue your return.
- Navigate to the estimated tax payments section:
- Select Start or Revisit next to the type of estimated tax payment you'd like to enter under Estimate...
- Enter the amount of estimated tax you paid at each of the quarterly due dates.
The total of your state and local tax withholding should flow properly to your state return.
