After you file
If he filed a Married Filing Jointly return, your income needs to be included on that return. You'd need to amend the original return to add your income. It's possible you end up having to owe some of your refund back to the IRS and state since all of your income wasn't included. Make sure to wait until the original return is processed and you receive any refund due before filing the amendment.
If he filed a Married Filing Separately return, you would file your own return an also file Married Filing Separately. No need to amend.
