After you file

If they didn't issue you a form 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC, I suggest you report it as "other income".  To report other income with a Form 1099-MISC:

 

  • In the Wages & Income section, under "Your income and expenses"
  • Scroll down to "Less Common Income Home sale, cancelled debt....etc."
  • Scroll  to the bottom and select "Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C"
  • Scroll to the bottom and select "Other reportable income"
  • Answer Yes
  • Enter the income you received that isn't reported on a Form 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC.
