The Austin TX post office has told me that the IRS address zip code printed on Form 8453, namely 73344-0254 is incorrect. I've been told IRS does not use this zip code. So, the mail will not scan. Despite the fact that I mailed the form and attachments on March 15 via Certified Mail, it is languishing somewhere in the Austin post office waiting to be hand scanned. Location unknown. Expected date of delivery unknown. Can you get a better address?
